Is The Block On Tonight? Thursday 1 October: Buyers Jury Day and a $50,000 Prize

Bottom line:

  • Yes, The Block is on tonight: a brand-new Thursday episode at 7.30pm AEST on Nine and 9Now.
  • It's buyers jury day, with members of the public walking through the five houses and $50,000 riding on their vote.
  • The judges' scores for Kids Room and Re-Do Room Week don't land until Monday 5 October, because Sunday's slot goes to the NRL Grand Final.

Most weeks The Block runs Sunday to Wednesday, so a Thursday night episode catches people out. This week is different. Nine has shuffled the schedule around the NRL Grand Final, and Thursday picks up the buyers jury challenge that the teams spent Wednesday night preparing for.

We checked two guides this morning. TVmaze lists tonight as season 22, episode 36, starting 7.30pm with a 75-minute runtime. IceTV's Block listing shows the same episode as a first-run broadcast (no repeat flag) at 77 minutes, which puts the finish at roughly 8.45pm in Sydney.

Is The Block on tonight, Thursday 1 October?

It is. 7.30pm AEST on Nine, streaming live and on demand on 9Now. Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra, Hobart and Brisbane are all on the same clock this week; daylight saving doesn't start until Sunday. Our capital-city times guide covers Adelaide and Perth.

What happens on The Block tonight?

Nine's synopsis says a conspiracy theory rattles the site before the homes open to the public. That's the buyers jury: ordinary would-be buyers tour each house and vote, and the winning team takes home $50,000. Nine hasn't said who's behind the conspiracy talk, and we won't guess.

Does tonight's buyers jury change the leaderboard?

Not directly. The $50,000 is prize money, separate from the judges' room scores. Courtney and Sev are still the team to beat after their 29.5 for Rumpus and Laundry, their fourth room win this season. Monday's results page has the full breakdown and which scores two outlets agreed on.

Can I watch tonight's Block later?

Yes. 9Now carries each episode on demand after it airs. IceTV also lists a Friday repeat of tonight's episode, handy if the footy build-up eats your Thursday evening. Our full viewing guide covers streaming and state-by-state times.
