Why Isn't The Block On Sunday 4 October? The NRL Grand Final Takes Nine's Night

That's the fortnight as the guides have it this morning. The gap is Sunday, and it's the second Sunday in a row that sport has taken it.

Short version:

• No Block on Nine on Sunday 4 October. The NRL Grand Final has the whole evening, with kick-off at 7.30pm AEDT.
• TVmaze has the Kids Room and Re-Do Room Reveal on Monday 5 October at 7.30pm, a 100-minute episode. Nine's own guide doesn't reach that far yet.
• Tonight's reveal and this week's three build nights are unchanged.

Why isn't The Block on Sunday 4 October?

Because Nine is showing the NRL Grand Final. The Sydney guide on yourTV runs Live: Grand Final Day from 5.30pm, 9News at 6.00pm, Grand Final Night coverage from 6.30pm, the match at 7.30pm and post-match from 9.30pm. There's no Block anywhere in it.

Nine holds exclusive free-to-air rights. The Sydney Roosters play the Newcastle Knights at Accor Stadium after the Knights beat Penrith 22–14 in the preliminary final, a game in which Nathan Cleary broke his leg.

When is the Kids Room and Re-Do Room Reveal?

TVmaze lists it for Monday 5 October at 7.30pm, episode 37 of the season and 100 minutes long. We'd call that likely rather than locked. yourTV's seven-day window stops at Sunday, and IceTV has nothing past Saturday.

It's the same fix Nine used this week. When the Wallabies Test took Sunday 27 September, the Rumpus and Laundry Reveal went to the Monday at 7.30pm, which is the move we explained last week.

Is The Block on tonight?

Yes. The Rumpus and Laundry Reveal is on Nine at 7.31pm AEST, according to yourTV and IceTV, and runs 92 minutes. The judges' pick takes $10,000, and the scores go into the season tally that decides auction order.

Then it's a Tuesday start for the next build week. Episodes 34, 35 and 36 run Tuesday to Thursday at 7.30pm. Thursday's has the homes opened to the public and a $50,000 win, the biggest prize on offer this week. The full week's planner lists each night with its length.

What does the Monday move do to the next week?

Very little, if TVmaze holds. It has Outdoor Terrace and Pool Week on Tuesday 6, Wednesday 7 and Thursday 8 October at 7.30pm, then that reveal back in the Sunday 7.00pm slot on 11 October.

Does daylight saving change the time?

For Sydney and Melbourne, no: 7.30pm stays 7.30pm, just in AEDT from Sunday 4 October. Clocks go forward at 2.00am that morning in New South Wales, Victoria, the ACT, Tasmania and South Australia.

9Now puts each episode up free after it airs on the east coast. Nine has also been repeating The Block at noon the following day this season; IceTV shows tonight's reveal again at 12.00pm on Tuesday.
