Why Isn't The Block On Sunday 27 September? The Wallabies Take Nine's 7pm and the Reveal Moves to Monday

Nine has put The Block's reveal in the 7.00pm Sunday slot every week since August. On 27 September it won't be there.

The reason is on the same channel. Nine has a Rugby Championship Test that night, and the Rumpus and Laundry Reveal has been pushed to the following evening. Here's what moves, what doesn't, and what fills the hole.

The gist:

• No Block on Nine on Sunday 27 September. The 7.00pm slot goes to the Wallabies v Springboks Test.
• The Rumpus and Laundry Reveal is now Monday 28 September at 7.30pm, a 90-minute episode with $10,000 on it.
• This week's three build nights — Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday at 7.30pm — are untouched.

Why isn't The Block on Sunday 27 September?

Because Nine is carrying live rugby. The Sydney guide has 9News — Sunday at 6.00pm, the Wallabies v Springboks Test from 7.00pm, and post-match coverage at 9.45pm. That takes the whole evening: Nine doesn't get back to regular programming until 9News Late at 10.15pm.

A reveal needs an hour and a half of clear air. There isn't an hour and a half anywhere in Nine's Sunday night, so the episode had to go somewhere else.

When is the Rumpus and Laundry Reveal?

Monday 28 September, 7.30pm, on Nine and 9Now. The guide has it as episode 33, running 90 minutes, which puts the finish around 9.00pm.

The prize on the night is $10,000 for the best pair of rooms, not the $100,000 that rode on Kitchen Week. The scores still count towards the season tally, which is the part that matters with the auction coming.

Is The Voice on that Sunday?

Yes, and it's the last one. Seven has confirmed The Voice Australia's Grand Finale for 7.00pm on Sunday 27 September on Seven and 7plus, with four artists left: The 60Four for Ronan Keating, Yung Milla for Melanie C, Daisha Auda for Kate Miller-Heidke and Tommy Novak for Richard Marx. The winner takes $100,000 and a recording package.

Seven's own listing for that slot still reads "TBA" in the published guide, which is normal for a live finale that hasn't had its running time locked. Our Voice finals page has the road that got them there.

So the Sunday clash everyone expected — a Block reveal against a Voice finale — doesn't happen. Nine handed the night over instead.

Does this change Monday to Wednesday this week?

No. Rumpus and Laundry Week runs as filed: 7.30pm on Nine tonight, Tuesday and Wednesday, at 75, 70 and 75 minutes. Tonight's episode starts the double-room build, and Scotty Cam drops a challenge into it.

Thursday, Friday and Saturday are empty for The Block, the same as last week. The week's full line-up has each night with its channel and length.

What does it do to the rest of the season?

It compresses things. A Monday reveal means the next build week starts on Tuesday 29 September rather than the usual Monday, and the guide has The Block on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday that week before the Kids Room and Re-Do Room Reveal on Sunday 4 October at 7.00pm — the first Sunday of daylight saving.

Room scores are where the season is actually being decided. Adam and Jolene went in front for the first time on Sunday with 175 points to Courtney and Sev's 173, which we added up in the Kitchen Week results. Two rooms in a week, on a shortened run-up, is how a two-point lead disappears.

How do I watch it if I miss the Monday?

9Now carries every episode free after broadcast, usually within the hour, and Nine repeats reveals around noon the next day. Neither needs a subscription. Times differ by state once daylight saving splits the country on 4 October, and our capital city times guide keeps that straight. Is The Block finished for the season?
No. The auction is the end of the season and it hasn't been scheduled yet. Nine has episodes filed through to at least 4 October.

Will the Sunday rugby push the reveal again?
It shouldn't. The Test is a one-off fixture, and Nine's Sunday 4 October listing has The Block back at 7.00pm.
