What happened on The Block tonight?
The published listing for episode 28 is thin on plot and heavy on stakes: co-host Shelley Craft steps in to help Tayla with her styling, Sev gets good news, and the guide sums the week up as 100,000 reasons to win it.
That $100,000 figure is three prizes bundled together, not a cheque: a $30,000 gold bar from Kinsman that gets auctioned with the house, $60,000 of Dekton from Cosentino, and a $10,000 room prize from Chery. Kitchen Week is the one that usually separates the field. Five teams are building kitchens, butler's pantries, lifts and powder rooms on a $20,000 room budget, and Sunday's scores land on top of six weeks already banked. The lead-in is in tonight's guide.
Who won tonight's challenge on The Block?
Updated Thursday morning. There was no separate challenge win in episode 28. The recurring Sizzle and Score round went to Rick and Tayla, taking them to 21 pots and plants, according to TV Blackbox's Thursday recap.
The same recap fills in the rest of the night: House 4 was accused of getting outside help after Rick filmed a British Paints representative apparently painting inside Courtney and Sev's kitchen, and Sev was told by Beacon Lighting that her custom light will go into production under her name. Four days remained until the reveal, with painting unfinished in all five houses.
Tuesday's All Stars challenge was ice soccer in inflatable Zorbs, and WHO reports that Adam and Jolene took it after Adam won a penalty shootout against Wyatt, worth $10,000 from Chemist Warehouse. Nine has not published a result and TV Blackbox did not recap Tuesday's episode, so that one rests on a single source rather than our usual two.
How many people watched The Block on Tuesday?
1,094,000 on average, according to the VOZ total TV figures published by TV Blackbox on Wednesday. That put episode 27 clear of everything except Nine's own news hour.
The gap is the interesting part. A Current Affair sat on 1,032,000 and Home and Away on 920,000, so The Block finished 174,000 ahead of the nearest entertainment program. Further back came a Travel Guides repeat on 590,000 and The Cheap Seats on 397,000.
Who is leading The Block 2026 going into the kitchen reveal?
Half a point. That is all that separates House 4 from House 1 after six rooms, which is why Sunday carries so much weight.

What else happened in Australian reality TV today?
Two things worth noting for later in the year. Nine opened casting for The Block 2027 on Wednesday, which is the usual sign that the Mt Eliza season is heading for its auction.
TV Blackbox's Media McKnight column also reported that Australian Survivor: Rivals will launch in January 2027, in the summer slot I'm a Celebrity used to hold. Treat the date as reporting rather than an announcement: 10 has confirmed the Rivals theme and named 24 castaways, but has not published a premiere date.
